ABOUT MER’S METHOD

In 2013, I opened my art gallery open the Old South Wharf on Nantucket. When people would stop by my gallery they would ask if their children could paint with me. In 2014, I launched my teaching business. I worked with over 40 students throughout the summer, ranging in age from 6-17, all with varying levels of experience.

Over the years, clients began booking lessons with me a year in advance and booked multiple lessons/week. I saw that many of my students wanted to take their skills to the next level so I transitioned my business model into a methodology where students would have an opportunity to use professional mediums such as oils and start to build their professional painting portfolio for school and job applications. I am delighted to share that one of my students (who I worked with for six years) was accepted into the the Parson’s School of Design in 2021.

As my teaching style has evolved into a methodology, I always keep classes fun and interactive. My teaching model is all about building confidence and cheering students on throughout their artistic journey.
